There, hugging tightly and in a passionate kiss were both Ben and Bridgette.
“What are you doing?” Chloe shrieked at the two of them.
They parted in a flash and stared up at Chloe with astonished looks on their faces.
“Um, Chloe don’t worry this isn’t what it looks”- Ben stammered nervously, eyeing Bridgette.
“I know fine well what it looks like Ben! I’ve seen you two slowly growing together! You two go to each other’s houses, you hold hands in public when you think I’m not there, you prank me together! I’m breaking up with you Ben! I hate you! I hate you! I don’t even know why I went out with you; you’re such a big headed jerk!”
“Chloe calm down!” Ben cried standing up to give Chloe a hug.
But Chloe pushed him away fiercely, tears in her eyes.
“No Ben, we’re done.” She took one look at Bridgette and shook her head. Walking away with her head bent down.
Ben ran after her, “No Chloe! Please don’t leave me!”
Chloe stopped and said in a fierce whisper, “Ben, we are over. Don’t you dare come crawling back to me when you’ve just kissed my best friend behind my back you moron.”
“Fine, oh and did I ever tell you your butt looks massive in them jeans? Yeah I would suggest never wearing them again if you want another boyfriend.” He replied defensively and with that, he stormed away.
Chloe gave a huge sob before and ran away from Ben, she didn’t know where she was going but all she wanted to do was get as far away from her ex and ex best friend as possible.
She didn’t know where she was, it was dark and all she could hear were birds squawking. She rounded a corner and saw a park, with its blue set of swings and yellow slide. She also noticed a small wooden house and wandered over to it, wondering if she should stay the night in there. She nodded to herself, finally coming to the fact that this will be the best place she’ll come across until the morning.
Closing the door behind her she pushed an old mini chair against it and sat down, hoping that sleep would come quickly…
Opening her eyes blearily she looked around her surroundings, trying to understand where she was. She was in her bedroom, nice and warm in bed with her pink walls and the Harry Potter series she loved on the old shelves.
She stood up and went to get her dressing gown, her stomach growling.
Walking into the kitchen she greeted her dad with a nod and continued to get her coco pops. Her dad didn’t move but started straight ahead.
She ignored him, he was probably playing a trick on her. When he didn’t move after she had made her coco pops she stood in front of him.
“Uh, dad?” She asked nervously.
His bright green eyes didn’t move, staring straight ahead at nothing.
Chloe reached toward him and poked him roughly, no movement at all. She ran into her parents’ bedroom to find her mum. She was standing in front of the cupboard.
“Mum I wondered where you were! Um dad’s acting really-“
Her mum wasn’t moving either, starting to get scared she pushed her gently toward the cupboard. It was like she was coated in glue, she didn’t move. Not even her hair was stirred by the faint wind coming through the open window.
By now Chloe was scared and her breathing came quick. She backed away from her mum in terror and ran into the kitchen to find her dad still frozen.
“Arg!” She gasped and ran into her bedroom and slammed the door behind her but froze in terror as she realised she was not alone in her room.
She shrank into the corner as her dad walked eerily towards her, with his green eyes staring and an evil grin spread across his face.
She sat up straight and banged her head against the low roof of the mini house she was in. She moaned and collapsed onto the floor, her chest heaving up and down and silent tears streaming down her face. She stayed on the hard floor for a while longer thinking of the dream she had just had until she heard children screaming happily and running around outside.
Opening the door slightly she squinted around, seeing two small girls on the slide with their mother close by. Damn. She shot out of the door before they could see her, she didn’t stop at the road but continued; she didn’t know where she was going but just kept running.
With her lungs screaming she pulled to a halt, she knew this place. She was sure she had been here. Recognition sunk in. It was the avenue behind her house; if she was to climb into one of them trees she would be able to see her neighbourhood.
What would her parents say if she went home? Would they ground her for months? Or would they be sorry for her? Who knows, but she wasn’t going to find out just standing there.
She’d have to go in.
“Mum?” She said cautiously as she opened the door, “I’m home.” She grimaced inwardly. Of course she was home!
Before she had walked two steps someone slammed into her, nearly knocking her off her feet. She was about to push them away before she realised it was her mum, squeezing her tightly.
“Uh. Mum?” She said slowly.
“How could you do that to us? Running away like that, why did you do it? We were so scared we had thought you’d ran away and- Oh my gosh I just can’t believe your back!” Sobbed her mum.
“Mum, mum please. Calm down. I’m alright, I was just-“ But what could she say? That Ben broke up with her and that Bridgette was no longer her friend and that she was stupid enough to sleep in a wooden house on a playground?
Her mum stood back, holding her shoulders tightly, “Chloe, you are going to tell me everything that has happened in the last few days. Even though I might already know some parts I want you to tell me everything.” She looked in Chloe’s eyes. “Can you do that for me?”
Chloe took a deep breath and told her everything. Starting with how Bridgette had all the boys and how badly she wanted a boyfriend to cuddle with and tell all her secrets to.
